Biography of Rev. Stephen P. Gillet

Stephen was born on January 1, 1969 to Charles C. Gillet, then a 4th student at CTS, Springfield, IL. He is the youngest of three children. His father served 3 separate calls in Minnesota. The Lord called Stephen into the Office of the Holy Ministry while his father was being installed at Holy Cross Lutheran in Peoria, IL, (actually during the service itself).

Stephen graduated from Limestone Community High School in Bartonville, IL in 1987. He then moved to Concordia University, River Forest and graduated there with a major in Theological Languages and a minor in Theology. He then enrolled at Concordia Theological Seminary to begin his studies to become a pastor.

Stephen vicared at St. Luke’s Oviedo, FL in 1993-1994 and graduated May 20, 1995. The Lord sent Stephen to his first call in Washington State to Hope Lutheran, Tonasket, WA. He served God’s people from 1995-1999 until the Lord moved he and his family to Wheeler, IL to serve a dual parish in Central Illinois, St. Paul's, Wheeler and St. John, Dieterich. While in Illinois, Stephen became an Illinois State Police chaplain in 2003 and an Effingham City Police chaplain in 2013.

He is married to Christina, the director of “Word of Hope”, a ministry with Lutherans For Life. She also holds the degree as a deaconess, from Concordia Theological Seminary, Ft. Wayne, IN. They have 7 children.
